Our board of directors is composed of Big Island residents who care about our community ohana and improving the quality of life for everyone.

Program DirectorPaul Burke Paul is a life-long cyclist and organizes our education programs. Over the past 50 years, he has enjoyed mountain biking, road biking, bike commuting, bike touring and triathlons. Paul started working with PATH as a volunteer for our Bike Safety Education program for Hawaii Island elementary schools and immediately felt rewarded for his efforts. "I was at Costco and two children from the class we taught thanked me for teaching them to ride safely. The appreciation shown by students and parents alike is overwhelming", says Paul.Chief Operations OfficerI am a transplant from Northwest Ohio and have been in Kailua Kona for 15 years. I have a BA in Communications and worked for the County of Hawaii-Parks & Recreation Department, IRONMAN and started as PATH's Chief Operations Officer in August after serving on the board for 4 years.After moving to the Island, I found the flourishing athletic community and began running, cycling, participating in the local Peaman & Mango Man events, Lavaman, Coffee Talk Riders and joined Hawaii Cycling Club.I look forward to continuing the great work that PATH does and getting the word out about our wonderful programs!Board of DirectorsMelissa Braswell has been the owner of Big Island Running Company for 11 years. In that time, she has participated in and sponsored many of the local races and events on the Big Island, including helping organize registration on race morning for both the Run for Hops and PATH Run for many years. She is an active runner and occasional swimmer and enjoys helping people in the community become and stay active. Prior to her time on the Big Island, Melissa was an attorney in Chicago, and recently received her Hawaii law license as well.Board of Directors/Secretary
Tami MacAller is newly retired Public Health Professional and Community College instructor. She has been active with PATH as a member, volunteer and working collaboratively with PATH projects during her employment with the Hawaii Public Health Institute (HIPHI).
Tami has spent much of her career promoting health and wellness to prevent chronic disease, while personally focusing on her own health, by staying active as an ocean swimmer, triathlete, cyclist, and hiker. “I believe in active living throughout our lifespan, just keep moving!”
As an avid believer in giving back to our community, she volunteers at local athletic events, Ironman, promoting healthy eating and active living, coastal clean ups, and assisting community members to connect with the resources they need to support healthful living.
Board of DirectorsClaudia is a Community Health Worker Supervisor at Hawaii Island Community Health Center, has been in outreach for over eight years. She received her B.A in Transborder Chicano/Latino studies from Arizona State University with a focus on Community Health and Development and her Master’s in Social Work through the University of Hawai’i Manoa Campus. Claudia is fluent in both Spanish and English. Before coming to Hawai’i, she worked as a Spanish medical interpreter for Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona for over 17 years. Claudia has completed certifications in interpretation and translation through the Agnese Haury Institute of Interpretation at the University of Arizona. She participated in a national program known as the “Medical Interpreter Project,” where over 50 interpreters nationwide were trained to provide “train the trainer” to other medical interpreters. In the fall of 2015, she completed “Bridging the Gap” through the Office of Language Access Hawaii State Department of Health and is part of their roster offering Language services on the West Side of Hawai’i. Claudia’s responsibilities as a Community Health Worker Supervisor are reaching out to the underserved community and helping to identify barriers in their health care. She is involved with providing health education to the migrant farmworker community and teaching perinatal health education classes through a “Healthy Mamas” program at Hawaii Island Community Health Center.Board of Directors/Vice PresidentAn avid cyclist, and former President of Girls on the Run- Chicago, where I volunteered and served on the Board of Directors since 2003, we moved to Hawaii so that we could play outside all 12 months of the year. Originally from Chicago, I spent 30+ years in big box retail management, and spent most of my free time volunteering and giving back to my community. Having served on 2 different non-profit Boards in leadership roles, I understand the importance of dedicated Board Service and am passionate about making a difference. I am excited to be a part of PATH Hawaii and help champion the efforts at creating safe places to walk, run & ride on the Big Island plus continue the focus of youth education and safety.Board of Directors/PresidentCindy is a retired school principal and a dedicated local volunteer. She always loved the people who volunteered in her schools and is now happy to have the time to volunteer herself. She is involved with Big Island triathlons and the Keauhou Canoe Club, The American Association of University Women's GEMS (Girls Exploring Math and Science) Program for the fifth grade girls of West Hawaii and the Mitsubishi Electric Championship Golf Tournament at Hualalai -- a fundraiser for Kona Rotary.
